Gassan Wine Yamabudo Kenkyusho

The shop has a free self-service tasting station. It reopened after a refurbishment on 24 April 2026, trading Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00. From 2026 the winery also runs occasional plant tours (1,000 yen per person, at 11:00 and 14:00, about 30 minutes). The shop closes for winter from late December to the end of March.
A winery in Etchuzan, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata, operated by the Shonai Tagawa agricultural cooperative. The cooperative in the former Asahi Village obtained a production licence and began making wine in 1979, shipping 3,000 bottles of rose the following year. It uses yamabudo, Yama Sauvignon, Koshu and Seibel 9110, with the yamabudo grown by about 70 farming households.
