These figures count the winery listings on this site. Every listing carries its own sources and verification date. Anything we could not verify is left out of the count, so the real numbers may be higher. A founding year may refer to the parent company — often a sake brewery — rather than the year winemaking began.

About this region

Winemaking in Hiroshima centres on Miyoshi City and the town of Sera, both in the north-centre of the prefecture. Miyoshi City certifies two wines under its "Miyoshi Brand" label: TOMOE, made entirely from grapes grown within the city, and a wine made from Pione, a table grape. Of Sera, the prefectural government says the town sits on the Sera Plateau at 350–450m, where the swing between warm and cool has supported fruit growing, and where producers increasingly handle growing, processing and distribution themselves.

Climate
Miyoshi City attributes its grapes' high sugar, large berries and good colour to "the climate of the Miyoshi area, with its wide gap between day and night temperatures." For Sera, the prefectural government gives an annual average temperature of 13°C and 1,330mm of rain a year, describing a mild climate blessed with "good water, a day-to-night temperature swing, and generous sunshine."
