Akeno Vineyard
明野ヴィンヤード
A 2-hectare vineyard at about 820 m elevation in Asao-bara, Akeno-cho, Hokuto, Yamanashi. It was opened in April 2021 by Eiichi Akamatsu, who spent 24 years managing grape growing at Grace Wine (Chuo Budoshu), together with members of his growing club. European wine varieties are trained on trellises (single Guyot) and Koshu on pergolas (smart Maillorca) on a southwest-facing slope. After a first harvest and vinification in 2022, nine wines and juices from six varieties were produced in 2023, with the first public release in 2024. Members of the Akeno Vineyard Club do much of the vineyard work. Operated by Akeno Vineyard LLC.
