Machida Wine

A Machida, Tokyo based business (operated by Yonkyuichi Inc.) that develops and sells its own Japanese wine brand '491House Machida' and the Japanese brandy 'Tamagawa Brandy', both made from Koshu grapes and produced under contract by Shirayuri Jozo (Lorian Wine) in Katsunuma, Yamanashi. In March 2021 it planted Koshu vines supplied from Yamanashi to create its own vineyard in Machida, running the 'Machida grape-growing wine project' to make Koshu wine and brandy from Tokyo-grown grapes. It also sells wines, glassware, wine cellars and sommelier knives by mail order and wholesale, and promotes wine culture through an owner membership scheme and wine certification classes. The brand name comes from '491House', a music restaurant that stood in Yamashita-cho, Yokohama from 1980 to 2020.
