These figures count the winery listings on this site. Every listing carries its own sources and verification date. Anything we could not verify is left out of the count, so the real numbers may be higher. A founding year may refer to the parent company — often a sake brewery — rather than the year winemaking began.

About this region

According to the National Tax Agency's 2025 survey, Kanagawa ranks first nationally in both the volume of wine produced and the volume shipped, yet it does not appear among the top ten prefectures for "Japan Wine" — wine made solely from domestically grown grapes. In other words, large-scale production drawing on imported raw material sits alongside small producers working with local fruit. The same survey counts six wineries in the prefecture; the three that responded took in 11 tonnes of domestically grown fresh grapes for wine, including 2 tonnes of Chardonnay. On 28 March 2025 the national government approved the "Yokohama Wine Special Zone", easing the rules on making fruit wine from fruit grown within the city of Yokohama.
