These figures count the winery listings on this site. Every listing carries its own sources and verification date. Anything we could not verify is left out of the count, so the real numbers may be higher. A founding year may refer to the parent company — often a sake brewery — rather than the year winemaking began.

About this region

Aichi is an active fruit-growing prefecture, and the prefectural government lists Higashiura, Obu, Tokai, Okazaki and Toyohashi as its main grape districts. Winemaking initiatives are scattered across the prefecture: in 2013 Toyota City became the first place in Aichi to win national designation as a "Toyota City Fruit Liquor Special Zone", with grapes among the local fruits covered. In Okazaki, a wine made entirely from city-grown grapes and produced from vineyard to cellar within the city — "Jun-Okazaki-san Wine" — has been named a regional brand item, and the prefecture reports that the first bottling was completed in 2024.

Climate
According to the Nagoya Local Meteorological Office, Aichi falls in the Pacific-coast climate zone: hot and wet in the warm season, dry with little rain in the cold season. The southern ends of the Atsumi and Chita peninsulas stay mild year-round under the influence of the Kuroshio current, while the mountainous parts of Mikawa take on a more inland character and turn sharply cold in winter. Average annual temperatures at the prefecture's AMeDAS stations sit around 15°C, though Inabu — at roughly 500m elevation — runs about 4°C cooler, and rainfall peaks in June–July and September with the rainy-season front and typhoons.
